BOTOX® Cosmetic

What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a therapeutic muscle-relaxing agent derived from a bacterium called Clostridium Botulinum. For over a decade, ophthalmologists have employed BOTOX® Cosmetic for its original intention; the treatment of blepharospasm (abnormal blinking or eyelid tic). Physicians also have been utilizing BOTOX® Cosmetic for years as a cosmetic treatment for correcting visible signs of stress and aging.

Juvéderm™

As we age, our skin changes and the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds form. But, with Juvéderm™ you don't have to let it happen! Juvéderm™ results are longer-lasting than those obtained from other wrinkle reducers, including collagen and fat injections.

Who are candidates for Juvéderm™?

Juvéderm™ may be good for patients who wish to fill in those deep folds around the nose or creases in the face. Some people can use it to plump their lips. Juvéderm™ can also be used on the fine lines around the eyes.

Perlane®

Perlane® is a cosmetic dermal filler that is used to soften wrinkles and facial lines. It is also a popular filler for lips, facial depressions, and facial scarring. It can be used on both females and males.

What is advantage of Perlane®?

Collagen injections were once very a popular injection, but are now obsolete in most cosmetic clinics. The availability of better, safer and longer lasting products have entirely replaced collagen. Perlane® is not only safer but also lasts longer than collagen as a dermal filler.

Restylane®

Facial lines and wrinkles are caused by a gradual breakdown of the body’s collagen and the elastin fibers in the skin. No one is immune from experiencing this normal aging process. Squinting, frowning and smiling also inflict stress on the underlying collagen in the skin and accelerate the formation of these furrows. Until recently, injectable collagen was the most widely used available cosmetic filler to improve the appearance of these lines.

Restylane® vs. Collagen

Restylane® has been demonstrated to last much longer than the standard bovine collagen injection. The occurrence of an allergic reaction is extremely rare due to the product’s non-animal associated basis. Unlike injectable collagen filler that is made of bovine protein and can cause an allergic reaction in some patients, Restylane® is a natural substance, hyaluronic acid, which is a sugar molecule already present naturally in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is similar to that found throughout your body, which gives volume and fullness to the skin. It is both biodegradable and compatible with human hyaluronic acid. Because of this compatibility it is not necessary for you to be tested for skin sensitivity.

Unlike collagen, which is made of animal bovine, no pretests are required to determine if you will experience any side effects or allergic reaction. Radiesse® is not absorbed by your body, thus the advantage it offers over collagen is its ability to last for years.

How many treatments will I need?

The cosmetic results you desire and the area to be treated will influence the number of treatments necessary. Typically one treatment is sufficient. Since Radiesse® is not absorbed by your body, results are long lasting and visible immediately following the treatment, leaving you with a more youthful appearance.
